Local Implementation

In the Altmark region of Germany, The ARCH brings international best practices to life through vibrant, community-driven projects. Our local implementation focuses on hands-on workshops and events at locations like Rittergut Schönberg, engaging children, families, and seniors to secure the legacy of locally rooted traditional crafts for the future.

Flagship Projects

  • ZukunftsHandwerker: This project strengthens children and young people in the Altmark through rare craft experiences, such as leather punching, embossing, and chasing & repoussé in silversmithing. Workshops, developed by craftspeople and educators, are suitable for all skill levels and promote creative education. Open to youth, families, and the community, they build skills like creativity, patience, and teamwork. A new handbook guides parents and helpers in crafting with head, heart, and hand.

  • Generationen Hand in Hand: Intergenerational events where seniors share their skills and life wisdom with younger generations.  Activities include repairing, crafting, storytelling, and simply being together—free entry for all generations.

  •

Community and Volunteers

Our success relies on dedicated volunteers like Bärbel (passing on old techniques), Katrin (countering digital overload with crafting), Heike (inspired by children's curiosity), and others who bring energy to our programs.

Get involved: Volunteer, host a workshop, or donate via Betterplace to support permanent spaces and materials.
