Supporting Craft Skills: Heritage Crafts Awards New Training Bursaries

At The ARCH, we are thrilled to share inspiring news from our founding partner, Heritage Crafts (UK). Heritage Crafts has awarded 29 new training bursaries to support individuals committed to preserving endangered craft skills across the United Kingdom. This impactful initiative aligns with The ARCH’s mission to champion the continuity of rare and exceptional crafts by ensuring that these invaluable skills are passed down to future generations.

The training bursaries provide recipients with essential financial support to pursue intensive training in crafts at risk of disappearing, from bookbinding and blacksmithing to the art of tutu-making. By enabling aspiring artisans to receive training from skilled masters, Heritage Crafts ensures that knowledge and expertise in these areas are preserved, allowing these crafts to thrive in modern society. The bursaries not only empower the next generation of craftspeople but also inspire a renewed appreciation for these time-honoured skills, which embody the rich cultural heritage and contribute to sustainable practices.

The ARCH is honoured to work alongside Heritage Crafts and support initiatives that highlight the economic, cultural, and environmental value of rare crafts. In today’s world, where traditional skills face many challenges, efforts like these bursaries are essential for keeping heritage crafts vibrant and viable. They are a testament to the dedication and passion within the craft community, reinforcing the importance of craftsmanship in shaping a resilient cultural landscape.
