Introducing the Latest Edition of The ARCH Newsletter: A Special Takeover by YLCA! 🌟
We’re excited to announce the upcoming edition of The ARCH (Alliance for Rare Crafts Heritage) newsletter, a special issue taken over by the passionate team at Young Living Craft Activists (YLCA)! For this edition, we’re giving a platform to young voices dedicated to preserving intangible cultural heritage (ICH) and rare crafts.
Here's what you can look forward to in this special issue:
What YLCA Means to Us 💛
In this edition, we at YLCA are sharing personal stories about what being part of this movement means to each of us. For many, preserving ICH is more than a cause—it’s deeply rooted in our cultural identities and personal journeys. Through YLCA, we’ve learned that protecting these rare traditions helps connect the past to the future, ensuring that these skills and crafts live on. Volunteering with YLCA has enriched our understanding of cultural heritage, empowering us to make a tangible difference in the world.
A Social Media Campaign Making Waves 🌍
This past July, we launched a social media campaign to raise awareness of intangible cultural heritage, and the results have been nothing short of inspiring! Thanks to your engagement, our community has grown to over 600 followers (and counting), and we’ve sparked important conversations globally. Reels like “Intangible Heritage That Shaped Us” about the Oktoberfest gained over 3,599 interactions, showing people's eagerness to engage with rare craft traditions. This newsletter edition gives you a closer look at the campaign’s impact and the importance of bringing these stories to the forefront.
The Story of Luka: A Young Maker Reviving Ancient Crafts ⚒️
One of the standout features in this edition is the inspiring story of Luka Vušurović, a dedicated young craft maker from Montenegro. Luka is working to revive the ancient art of maille-making, which dates back to the 13th century. His three-year journey to recreate a suit of maille armour is a testament to the power of dedication and passion for preserving rare crafts. Luka’s story reminds us of why it’s so crucial to continue supporting young artisans who are keeping these ancient skills alive.
This edition is filled with heart, passion, and a deep appreciation for cultural heritage. We hope you enjoy this special YLCA takeover and find inspiration in the stories we’ve shared. Thank you for being part of this journey to preserve our shared heritage!
